Title Magazine

I worked as a Project Manager and Senior Designer for Issue 08 of Title Magazine. The project I created for the issue was called Forgotten and discusses how Alzheimer’s Disease can effect someone’s perception of time and their own memories.

As a project manager I was in charge of creating the concept for the project and then directing the aesthetics for the visuals and writing. For my role as a senior designer I was in charge of the layout, photography, typography, and wordmark for the project. My biggest responsibility as a Project Manager and Senior Designer was to make sure the design team met all of the print and digital deadlines and felt like they had a clear understanding about the projects design direction.

Photography

For the photography we used family photos from member’s of the design team’s families. These photos were then distorted and given a cyanotype effect to give the impression of forgotten or fading memories. To take this further we also layered handwritten notes like dates, special times, and some I love yous we found on the back of the photographs onto the spreads.

Typography

For the typography I decided that in order to create a sense of fragmented and fading memories the type would be distorted through experimental leading and tracking. The type is also given a slight blur effect to help it bleed into the background. The gaps in the type create a sense that something is missing or fading away which ties back to the projects themes of distorted and forgotten memories.
